This series of paintings began as an attempt to paint a landscape "portrait" of some large rocks, from the jetty at Ponce Inlet in Florida. The "portrait" just wouldn't work. The painting kept trying to go abstract and, so, I decided to let the painting be whatever it wanted to be. "Rocks 1" was the result.
